12 Detox Recipes for Your After-Holiday Tummy
Let’s be honest here, guys, we all tend to indulge a little bit during the holidays. Or not a little bit. Maybe a lot. Sometimes too much, actually.
And you know what? That’s perfectly fine!
You can’t restrain yourself for the whole year! There should be a time when you can just let loose and treat yourself. And December is the perfect moment for that!
But when January comes and we all have to get back to our normal lives, sometimes you look in the mirror and see that holiday season left it’s mark on you.
Tummy looks bloated, skin is breaking out a little and you gained a couple pounds? Have no fear!
All you need to do is change your diet and incorporate some detox foods in it! And when December’s temptations are gone, it’s not that difficult to do.
Here I’ve come up with a list of recipes that will help to get rid of those toxins, as well as flood your body with nutrients that help combat the damage caused by alcohol, overeating and stress (who has stress-free holidays? Last time it happened to me I was like 12).
Let’s start with the king of detox – green smoothie! This one is packed with nutrients and flavor! Kale, lemon and celery will detox your body while chia seeds and banana will fill you up for a long time.
Salmon Detox Salad
But you can’t go all day on just smoothies! Let’s think about something more lunch-like, this salmon salad for example. I’m not a big fan of fish, but I never mind a nice juicy piece of salmon! This salad is low in calories and consists of plain goodness that helps your body release water and toxins.
Detox Salad with Kale and Broccoli
Can there be too many veggies in a salad? I don’t think so! This colorful salad will boost your mood as well as your metabolism while being just so delicious!
Detox Immune-Boosting Chicken Soup
Winter months are not only famous for overeating, but also for cold and flu! This healthy chicken soup is packed with ingredients like garlic, turmeric, mushrooms and leafy greens, all working together to boost your immune system!
And if after a whole month with a cup of eggnog in your hand you feel like something is missing – try this ginger lemonade! It has minimum calories and it’s amazingly refreshing and delicious! You wouldn’t mind this detox at all!
Vegetarian Cabbage Soup
This cabbage soup is anything but boring, I actually make it all the time! It’s filling, flavorful, and if you like spicy food like me – a couple drops of Tabasco make it even better!
Detox Rainbow Roll-Ups
Did anyone say burrito? Because that’s what I see! All types of healthy veggies in a form of a roll-up, perfect!
Green Detox Soup
All green things are healthy, right? We already had a green smoothie on this list, and now it is time for the green soup! This soup is full of powerhouse foods like kale and broccoli, with a little sourness from lemon. If you ever feel tired of green smoothies – definitely try the green soup!
Detox Beet Soup with Coconut Milk
OK, this is the last soup on this list, I promise! I love my soups, what can I do. But I just couldn’t leave this one behind, it’s so colorful! And beets are not a very popular ingredient now, which is unfortunate. They’re full of vitamins, nutrients and help you detox your body as well. And did I mention the color? Not every day you get a chance to eat something purple!
And don’t forget about the most important meal of the day, your breakfast! Of course, you can always have your smoothie, but when you are looking for something filling, try this breakfast bowl! It is so nutritious, full of flavor and it even has coffee in it! Your eyes didn’t trick you, it’s coffee! In a breakfast bowl!
Dark Chocolate Detox Bites
If you think detox foods are just veggies and low calories, well, think again. Because here we have a wonderful detox dessert! Made of nuts, dried fruits and dark chocolate these babies are definitely much better for you than those Christmas sugary cookies. Just don’t eat too many, they’re not called “bites” for nothing!
Arugula, Avocado and Tomato Salad
And let’s finish this list with this delicious salad, with creamy avocado, peppery arugula and fresh tomato! Now you’re well equipped for your after-holiday detox program, plan your meals for a week and let’s start!
